PPS activism during COVID-19 Pandemic;

Pakistani Physician Society has been actively working during pandemic to make difference and add value to others. Due to pandemic PPS had identified three areas where most of work was needed. Those included health care delivery, hunger prevention and medical education. This time PPS raised funds and collaborated with APPNA to help ICNA Relief Food Pantry on Devon Avenue Chicago which fulfill needs of several families who emigrated from Pakistan. This was PPS action to prevent hunger and give back to their own brethren who have been affected by loss of income due to current Pandemic.PPS donated check in amount of $16000.00, these funds will be used by ICNA Relief to provide assistance in monthly rations for surrounding indigent population.

Dr. Amin Nadeem (PPS president), Dr. Samina Hijab (President-Elect) & Mrs Farah Nadeem, Dr. Tariq Butt, Dr Asif Syed (Secretary PPS), Dr. Nureain Mirza (Treasurer PPS) visited ICNA Relief food pantry. Also present on occasion were Alderman Ward 50 Mrs Debra Silverstein, Javed Rana of Pakistan News & ICNA Relief officials. ICNA relief spokesperson Atya Kazmi appreciated PPS efforts to assist indigent population during these difficult times and indicated their willingness to work with PPS in future as well. 

PPS appreciates APPNA leadership specially Dr. Aisha Zafar chair of APPNA SWDRC & Dr. Sajid Chaudhary Chair APPNA COVID-19 task force for their constant support to PPS during year 2020.

PPS is looking forward to work closely with APPNA during 2021 to embark on similar kind of projects.
