PPS IL activism during face of COVID-19

We are sharing news of PPS support to six food pantries and two homeless shelters in Waukegan, Illinois. The COVID-19 outbreak has not only brought illness but also hunger and loss of income. City of Waukegan has significant population living below poverty level. Several organizations and churches struggle to provide needs of this population.Pakistan Physicians Society IL (PPS) collaborated with APPNA to support food six food pantries and two homeless shelters in city of Waukegan.Dr Samina Hijab (current President-Elect) took the lead and collected funds. PPS leadership visited city of Waukegan and handed over the checks to following organizations on July 17,2020:
1-Beacon Place 
2-Most Blessed Trinity Parish
3-Puente Latino Food Pantry
4-Shilo Baptist Church
5-St.Dismas Church
6-The Roberti Community House 
7-Steven House for Women and Children
8-Eddie Washington Center

Dr Amin Nadeem (PPS President), Dr Samina Hijab (President Elect PPS), Dr Asif SYED (Secretary) and Farah Nadeem were  present at event.The event was also attended by Waukegan city officials including Dr John Schwab (Treasurer for the city), Susana Figueroa (Deputy Mayor) among others.We are also sharing pictures from the event.
PPS-IL has been actively participating in relief work during COVID-19 outbreak. We are committed to make difference and add value as a vibrant society.PPS has been running COVID-19 Telehealth line in collaboration with ICNA Relief since March this year. PPS has donated $7000 (in collaboration with APPNA)worth of PPE to cook county department of corrections and DuPage county health department during month of May. PPS has also donated $3000.00 to ICNA Relief food pantry on June 19.
