Dr. Kashif Ahmad and Dr. Asif Syed have their abstract titled "Career Counseling for Medical Students in Pakistan Led by-Pakistani Descent Physicians Society in US" accepted at International Association of Medical Science Educators Virtual Forum held on December 2nd-6th 2022.

Abstract:

The Pakistan Physicians Society of Illinois wrote its constitution in 1980. The PPS has a mission to support the community. We collaborated with Jinnah Sindh Medical University Pakistani medical students who had great success as physicians practicing in the United States. We assessed that there is an urgent need for career counseling at all levels of their career as physicians.  During the COVID-19 pandemic we offered a career counseling symposium to our students in Pakistan on topics that include types of global research opportunities, career opportunities for physicians in the USA, Canada, UK, Kuwait, Australia and Pakistan. CME credits for the program were approved by the Chicago Medical Society. The 4-hour workshop involved nine physician speakers from USA, Canada, UK, Kuwait, Australia, and Pakistan. The workshop was from 9:00 am (Central Standard Time) to cater for worldwide audiences. We believe our model for virtual medical student community outreach is a dire need to guide young physicians in their career advancement and is what all countries should adopt.
